Health and Safety Officer

Post Title:  Health & Safety Officer

Role Status:  Full time (35 hours), Permanent. 

Organisational Base:  Home Based.  Opportunity to be office based for Preston local candidates.

Reporting To:  Safeguarding & Incident Manager

Salary:  £30,000 to £44,000 (starting salary dependant on qualifications, skills and experience, capped at £37,500) and benefits package

The EFL Trust is the official charity of the EFL and uses the power of sport to improve lives and make a positive contribution to 72 communities across the country across our key themes of sport, education, community engagement and health. Formed in 1888 by its twelve founder members, the EFL (English Football League) is the world's original league football competition and is the template for leagues the world over.

EFL Trust is responsible for the delivery of a range of Community based programmes and activities through its network of 72 Football Club Community Organisations (CCOs).   To enhance the Health and Safety provision we are recruiting a Health and Safety Officer to ensure the safety and health of service users and employees.

The role fits within the Governance and Quality Team and will have a significant input into the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme in addition to providing support and guidance to our network.   The NCS Programme engages with approximately 10,000 young people aged 15-17 annually and requires specialist and targeted health and safety  support.

The Candidate

You will have a Level 5 or above H&S qualification and extensive experience in a youth work, education or community based organisation as well as an understanding of the adventure and outdoor activity environments.

You must have the ability to build strong an effective relationships and the confidence to challenge when appropriate.  You will have self-discipline to manage your own workload and focus priorities.  A friendly, outgoing and approachable personality with excellent communication skills is a must.

This is a new role which offers the successful candidate the autonomy to set key performance targets and manage an effective strategy which improves the safety and health of the participants involved in the projects delivered on behalf of EFL Trust.

Regular travel is a feature of the role and occasional evening and weekend working including some overnight stays.
