Youth First (YF) is the UK’s first employee and young person owned, not for profit, Mutual.  Formed from Lewisham’s Youth Service to sustain and grow youth provision, firstly for Lewisham Borough but which could, in the future, extend beyond these borders.

Youth First is driven by a mission to support and improve young people’s lives through positive activities, adventure play and the provision of safe spaces with the support of professional youth and play workers.

About the role

We are inviting applications from dynamic, forwarding thinking Senior Youth, Play and Community workers to work from one of our sites in the Lewisham borough.

We are specifically seeking those who see youth and playwork as a vocation and who share our passion for supporting young people to become successful and resilient adults.  This role is for those that understand the wide ranging challenges facing young people and can flexibly adjust their practice to actively and demonstrably meet these needs. 

About you

  • Experience of direct work with young people, their families in formal and informal settings i.e. one to one, group work, outreach and detached work is essential to the role
  • Educated to Level 3 or above qualification in Youth and Community work or equivalent in teaching or coaching along with substantial experience of working directly with young people
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to plan, deliver and evaluate structured programmes of activities with young people organising including accredited programmes.
