Home-Start is one of the leading family support charities in the UK.
Home-Start Southwark Volunteers help families with young children deal with the challenges they face. We support parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children.

We achieve this by training local volunteers to provide parenting support, encouragement and professional friendship in people’s homes and through support groups and structured early intervention work.

The role

As our Child Development Practitioner you will be responsible for ensuring that high quality early years practice is embedded in our services.  You will work directly with families as well as supervising a team of trained volunteers to provide targeted, specialised support to parents to best support their child’s learning.

An excellent understanding of the needs of families and young children as well as the skills to implement the EYFS in a home environment is essential.

About you

You will have:

  • Experience of delivering child development and parenting interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with children, parents and professional partners.
  • Experience in meeting the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children under 5.
  • Skills and experience in evaluating and measuring outcomes and impact.
  • A relevant early years education qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3 or above.
