An exciting opportunity has arisen within the East Midlands Teenage and Young Adult Integrated Cancer Service. We are looking to recruit a Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator for 37.5 hours per week. This post will be fixed term for 9 months to cover maternity leave.

This post is funded by Teenage Cancer Trust. We are looking for an exceptional individual who must enjoy working with TYA, be emotionally resilient and have compassion, sensitivity and a sense of humour. Working as part of the TYA Multidisciplinary team and linking into existing wide-ranging patient services, the successful candidate will be based on the Teenage Cancer Trust Young Persons Unit (YPU) at the Nottingham City Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for providing both individually tailored and group support both on and off the unit. Working in partnership with other YSC colleagues they will both lead and contribute to a wide range of appropriate recreational activities, to enable and encourage patients to socialise and remain active as young people throughout the cancer trajectory, living with and beyond cancer. The Teenage Cancer Trust YPU at Nottingham City Hospital, caring for 18 - 24 year olds, is one of three Teenage Cancer Trust units within the East Midlands Service which provides a home from home environment for TYA undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, symptom control and palliation. The TYA team understand that this is an impressionable time in the TYA’s life and aims to provide specialist care and emotional support through their treatment and prepare them for the future. It aims to do this by putting the young person first, cancer diagnosis second.

If you believe you have the skills and experience for this role we would love to hear from you.
