Join us as we start out on a new and exciting opportunity to change the way in which we involve, listen to and support young people to have a voice and play an active role in shaping our heritage. With funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Kick the Dust programme, this is a fantastic opportunity to dramatically change youth participation within our charity and the ways in which history and heritage are perceived by 11 to 25 year olds.
As part of our Shout Out Loud Project team, you will be delivering the first of a three year project to excite engage and involve young people with heritage. By coordinating and delivering a programme of activities for 11-16 year olds you will also ensure that their voices are at the heart of the project. Through a network of partner organisations in your local patch and our national partners you will look at how we can provide and promote further opportunities.
To help you deliver the programme you will recruit and manage a small team of volunteers. The role will include regular travel around a patch of sites including Stonehenge and Eltham Palace. There will also be occasional travel to further afield including for team working, this may include overnight stays.
You will have a passion for meaningful engagement with young people and putting their voices at the heart of everything you do. You will have easy rapport with young people as well as the wider team of staff and volunteers that you work with. As an innovative thinker you will have a track record of organising a number of different activities with the direction of young people.
As a youth and community worker, you will have experience of working with a number of key stakeholders and creating your own networks for partnership activities. You will have experience of recruiting and managing volunteers.
You will have a proven record of working within deadlines to deliver results whilst taking into account the needs of a number of stakeholders. With experience of working within the charitable sector you will understand the processes of working on a funded programme.
