Young Women’s Worker

c. £24,000 to £28,000

Redthread works with vulnerable young people in crisis. Whether they have been the victim of a stabbing, are seeking support for anxiety, have suffered a sexual assault, or need someone to advocate for them, we support them to overcome the challenges they face through our dynamic youth work programmes.

We are looking for an outstanding, experienced professional to work within our service supporting vulnerable young women affected by gang activity and who are experiencing trauma. We work intensively with them to help them secure a positive future. The service works alongside Redthread’s Youth Violence Intervention Programme and so our initial contact with the young women is in the A&E department and is followed up with longer-term community-based support. Please note we are recruiting a female worker for this role, which is exempt under the Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, Part 1.

It’s an exciting time to join Redthread. We have an inspirational staff team, programmes which transform the lives of vulnerable young people, an excellent reputation and profile, and well-developed organisational structures and processes.

“Redthread youth workers are doing an incredible job helping young victims to move away from the circles that led to them getting hurt” (Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, July 2016)

The main purpose of this role is to work intensively with vulnerable young women in a trauma-informed way to promote their well-being, safety and personal development.
