We have an opportunity for an experienced children’s services Social Work qualified professional to join our team and help us fulfil our vision to give every child the opportunity of a hope filled life. You will be one of 2 Practice Improvement Managers in Spurgeons and will provide clear direction, advice and guidance to ensure that our services provide the best possible opportunity for ensuring positive outcomes for our children and their families. This role is critical in ensuring coherence and consistency across the charity and has a real opportunity to be innovative and creative in exercising all aspects of the job description. You will need to be very organised and be a great critical thinker that is solution-focussed. You will have in-depth knowledge of national policy and current research related to children’s services and in particular safeguarding. You will play a key part in our growth and diversification and help to further build our reputation through ensuring high quality practice and strong partnerships across the sector. The post holder will need to make efficient and focused use of their own time and expertise
To perform well in this role you’ll need:
- To apply your professional experience so far, adapt to this setting, and effectively support and guide our services across the charity which are based across the UK
- To be competent and support our bid development, grants and fundraising teams to put forward strong bids that are predicated on sound knowledge from the sector and support new services that transition into Spurgeons
- To be a coherent thinker, with good situational judgement skills, able to make sense of information quickly and act on decisions made
The role is central office based, (Rushden, East Northamptonshire), working predominantly ‘office hours’ with occasional evening and weekend work. Our current services portfolio includes work across England (including Prisons, Childrens Centres, Young Carers, CSE and specialist projects in Norfolk, Kent, Sussex, London, Peterborough, Wiltshire, Birmingham and the Black Country and Buckinghamshire). You will need to be able to travel nationally on a regular basis and at short notice and adopt a flexible approach to ensure sound customer (commissioner) relationship management; and be an effective ambassador and advocate with external organisations.
