Housing Worker

Permanent Contract

Location: Based at Monarch Court, Hackney Wick

Responsible to: Housing Co-ordinator

Responsible for: N/A

Salary: Grade C.1 £20,244 per annum pro rata for 21 hours per week, £12,146

Hours: 21 hours per week to be worked on a shift rota basis including working a minimum of 3 weekends out of 5 along with regular shifts; this (for example: 8.00am-4.00pm, 10.00am-7.00pm, 2.00pm-10.00pm mostly).

Annual leave: 28 days per annum pro rata 17 days (inclusive of public holidays)

Job Purpose: The aim of this post is to provide a direct housing service to vulnerable young people aged 16 – 25.  This post will assist young people to move on to independent living including referral management, initial assessments, upholding of house rules, benefit support, budgeting and life skills support. This post requires close working with a range of agencies such as Floating Support, Housing Services, Housing Benefits and Children Services.  They will provide quality information, advice and guidance and support to Residents with regards to the claiming of housing related benefits. To work with colleagues to reduce rent arrears whilst following Rent Policy regarding arrears and notification periods.  To work with the Rent Coordinator to recover rent arrears from residents and ensure that payments plans are drawn up and carried through.

Job Context: The housing project provides short term temporary accommodation for 87 single homeless vulnerable young people aged 16 to 25 from a variety of backgrounds including: offending, mental health, domestic violence and alcohol & drug abuse.  The hostel reception is open 24/7 – 365 days a year.

Housing Worker Assistant

Permanent Contract

Location: Based at Monarch Court, Hackney Wick

Responsible to: Senior Housing Worker

Responsible for: N/A

Salary: Grade B1. £18,702 per annum pro-rata for 14 hours per week, £7,481

Hours: 14 hours per week mostly weekends (for example: 8.00am-4.00pm, 10.00am-7.00pm, 2.00pm-10.00pm) but may need to cover during the week or be available for training

Annual leave: 28 days per annum pro rata 11 days (inclusive of public holidays)

Job Purpose: The aim of this post is to help the housing team to provide a quality front desk service for City YMCA, acting as the main point of contact; ensuring you fulfil the needs and requirements of our service users. This post will assist Housing Workers in taking rent payments, answering the telephones in a polite and professional manner, providing basic information, advice and guidance, helping young people to call external agencies, upholding of house rules and assist Housing Workers with other duties as and when required.

Youth Worker

Permanent Contract

Location: Monarch Court and any City YMCA Youth Projects venue

Reporting to: Housing & Youth Manager

Hours: 4 hours per week (with the possibility of increasing) days and times to be agreed.

Annual leave: 28 days per annum pro rata 22 hours (inclusive of public holidays)

Salary Grade: C.1, £20,244 per annum pro-rata for 4 hours per week, £2,314

Other Benefits: Contributory pension scheme and free confidential telephone counselling service

Job Purpose: Development and delivery of a variety of projects within Young People’s Services. Engage young people aged 11-25 in positive activities and personal and social development opportunities.  To play a lead role in the development of projects in order that it continues to be interesting, relevant and responsive to the needs of young people and local communities. 

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

City YMCA London is a multi-site operation, operating a hostel and a range of projects for young people each year across four London boroughs.

The City YMCA Youth Projects department operates out from The Drum, a four storey converted pub, located in South Islington and Monarch Court hostel. Within The Drum, there is training/project space, computer suite and a counselling service for Young People.  At Monarch Court hostel there is a training room and a large communal area with a computer suite.
