Principal Short Break Key Worker for Disabled Children
£31,953 -£35,961 per annum
Band 3 – Level 1
The Short Breaks Keyworker Service is going through an exciting period of change. While we have always supported families who are living with a disabled child, we have recently implemented the concept that early intervention is vital to helping these families make the most out of life. As such, the Early Help Keyworker Service is currently being formed, and it is this team that you will be leading. Tapping into pre-existing knowledge, you will enjoy plenty of support as you oversee the work of the Keyworkers. Completing assessments and setting up short break care packages for our 200 children and their families, you will devise ‘Family Service Plans’ for every case that crosses your desk, ensuring multi-agency partners are involved as soon as possible. From emotional support to the practicalities of understanding what benefits they may apply for, you will allocate workloads among the team, making the most of the fact that we have a window of opportunity to shape the future of this amazing team.
Qualified to NVQ Level 5 standard – or willing to reach this level – you will have Social Care, Nursing or Teaching qualifications and hands-on knowledge of managing a team of Early Help professionals. You will also have a good grasp of Every Child Matters, plus all other relevant legislation.
With experience of working with children and families, your appreciation of how neglect, domestic violence, mental health difficulties and substance abuse can impact on children will prove vital. Your compassion will be met by your unwavering commitment to support the families who fall into your remit. Meticulously organised, you will also have outstanding communication skills.
