Working within our Children’s Services as a Team Manager you’ll be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team, sharing a passion for providing our vulnerable children and young people with the best possible outcomes in life. You will be part of a service that it is in the early stages of development, improvement and restructure.

Our teams are, made up of social workers and senior practitioners supported by a small group of support and admin staff. You’ll have overall responsibility for directing and supervising the work of everyone in your team, and providing one-to-one supervision to the senior practitioners reporting to you. You’ll also be there to provide advice and guidance on the most complex and high profile cases.

Keeping up to date with national developments in your area of expertise, you’ll advise and assist the Head of Service on all relevant issues affecting the delivery of children’s social work. You’ll identify changing needs, project future demands and plan service responses.  You will take the lead on performance management in your team and quality assurance of the cases. With staffing and budgetary responsibilities, you’ll manage the development of services, identifying training needs to enhance best practice and the skills of your team. As a member of the Social Services Management Team, you’ll contribute to the development and implementation of policy and procedures for Social Services overall. 

With considerable experience and confidence in prioritising and managing teams that carry diverse caseloads, you’ll have a proven ability for independent, responsible, decision making whilst under pressure. You’ll also need a comprehensive knowledge/understanding of the full range of Health and Social Care services and of relevant private and voluntary sector providers, with the ability to lead and develop interventions through inter-agency communication and co-operation.

HCPC registered, you should have a professional social work qualification and a minimum of five years’ post qualifying social work experience - including three years’ experience within your specialist area.
