ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR BARRING (Disclosure & Barring Service)
Salary scale: £58,348 - £71,565 per annum
The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Home Office. We provide information to employers and other organisations in England and Wales (and barring information only in Northern Ireland) so they can make informed recruitment and licensing decisions, especially for employees and volunteers working with vulnerable groups. We also determine whether an individual can take up relevant posts by making decisions about inclusion on a barred list.

Supporting the Director in leading and driving forward the priorities of the Directorate, you will provide operational leadership for Barring casework, maintaining excellent performance delivery during a period of significant and substantial organisational change.
- Ensure all Directorate objectives and priorities are delivered;
- Monitor and report to the Director and DBS senior management on operational performance, issues and risks, deputising for the Director as required;
- Continue the strategic commitment to high performance; drive continual improvement and ensure customer service excellence and ISO 9001 standards are maintained.
- Establish and embed best practice, VFM and continued business improvement;
- Ensure the Barring Unit is actively engaged in successfully delivering change programme.

- Ability to demonstrate a good working knowledge of safeguarding legislation and policy;
- Ability to develop policies, frameworks and procedures;
- Demonstrable oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to establish and maintain senior level relationships and influence at all levels both internally and externally;
- Ability to lead a team with broad responsibilities in a changing, complex environment;
- Provide advice on complex safeguarding issues.
