Change young lives for the better

Chief Executive – The Factory Youth Zone

If you have outstanding leadership skills and a passion for pioneering youth work, this is the perfect opportunity to transform the lives of young people in North Manchester.

As Chief Executive, you will lead the world-class team at our recently launched, £5m iconic Factory Youth Zone. Attracting young people from across the area with state-of-the-art facilities, it offers a wide range of high quality youth work opportunities in providing positive activities and practical support, especially for those who are disadvantaged.

Modelled on the highly successful Bolton Lads and Girls Club, The Factory Youth Zone operates as a stand-alone charity with its own Board of Trustees drawn mainly from the local business community. Open seven nights a week, at weekends and during school holidays, its aim is to enable young people from across North Manchester to make constructive use of their leisure time and raise their aspirations.

Responsible to the Board and working closely with Manchester City Council, you’ll manage all aspects of the charity, from the effectiveness of its youth work and child protection practices to its budgetary control and fundraising strategy.

Experienced in grassroots youth work, you will also have proven track record of general management, ideally within a commercial, voluntary sector or local authority environment. A high achiever, your energy and inspirational leadership will motivate others to exceed expectations and achieve every goal. Innovative and articulate, you’ll quickly gain the credibility with the Youth Zone’s stakeholders and build trust in the wider community.

Able to cope with multiple demands and deadlines, as well as flexible towards working evenings and at weekends, you must live within reasonable travelling distance of the Youth Zone or be willing to move (relocation package available). In accordance with our Child Protection procedures an enhanced CRB check will also be required.

In return, your salary package will reflect the calibre of this role and a pension scheme will be available after 6 months’ service.
