The role

By working as part of a team to create an environment in which children's individual needs are met and high standards of care are provided, which meet the requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

HMP New Hall Mother and Baby Unit is a 9 bed unit that offers holistic support for mothers and their babies who are often vulnerable and may have complex emotional and health needs. We work closely with a range of professionals and as part of a team to offer the best positive outcomes for the mothers on the unit and this is a vital part of our work.

You'll be working in our HMP New Hall Mother and Baby Unit project, offering Ofsted registered nursery provision, under a key worker system. You will provide holistic support to the mothers and babies on the unit including the delivery of a variety of parenting programmes, and will provide the prison with monthly reports, keep comprehensive running records and detailed information/reports for professional meetings and as part of social care assessments.

The person

You'll need:
  • Experience dealing with multi-agencies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to build good rapport with people in the team and the vulnerable mothers
  • Must have worked with vulnerable people (children or adults)
  • Emotional resilience
  • The ability to build and develop relationships both professionally with colleagues and with the mums in the unit
  • Must have Level 3 Early Years qualification
  • To drive
