Job Details
Solace Women’s Aid is an innovative, exciting, grassroots charity working across London. Our purpose is to bring to an end the harm done through domestic and sexual violence to all survivors, and in particular women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse.
You will be joining a team of committed and inspiring individuals whose dedication has saved the lives of thousands of women, men and children in the capital. We are looking for friendly and diligent individuals to join our services and help us make a difference.
About the Service
Solace works alongside Redthread, a London-based youth violence charity, to provide Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) based in London’s four major trauma centres. Redthread provide a Youth Violence Intervention Programme, within which our IDVAs provide specialist support for young people aged 11 – 25 who are admitted into hospital due to Violence Against Women and Girls.
About the Role
We are seeking a Youth IDVA to provide high quality case work support, advocacy and information services to young people aged 11-25 years of age, who present in the Emergency Department due to possible domestic abuse and/or sexual exploitation.
You will work with young survivors to agree Safety and Support Plans, and provide training to hospital staff to improve and increase identification of domestic abuse and effective referrals to specialist services.
About You
Ideal candidates will have experience of working with young people in a range of settings, and of working in partnership with a range of statutory and voluntary sector practitioners including health practitioners.
Candidates should hold CAADA /Safe Lives/Women’s Aid IDVA or DAPA qualification.
You will have a good understanding of the causes and dynamics of domestic and sexual abuse, including its impact on victims/survivors. A flexible approach to your work and a commitment to the values of Solace Women’s Aid is essential.
In return, we offer great employee benefits including three per cent employer pension contribution, generous holiday entitlement and a focus on learning and development.

We’re Solace. For more than 40 years we’ve supported women and children in London to build safe and strong lives. Futures free from male abuse and violence.
We know that women across London are experiencing domestic and sexual violence right now. Whatever form violence comes in, from rape and trafficking to relationships based on psychological or financial control, we work to end it. But we know escaping violence can be the hardest thing to ever do. That’s why it's so important we’re here.
We find creative and innovative ways to support thousands of women and children each year. Stand with us to end violence and abuse now.
