Youth Worker, Groundwork Luton & Bedfordshire

Full time role: 37 hours per week
Salary: £22,643 to £24,256 plus attractive benefits 
Location: based in Leighton Buzzard, covering the whole of Bedfordshire, with occasional travel across the East of England
Term: 1 year fixed term contract (with potential for extension)

Part time role: 16 hours per week
Salary:  £21,087 pro rata, plus attractive benefits 
Location: based in Melbourn, covering Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and parts of Bedfordshire, with occasional travel across the East of England
Term: 1 year fixed term contract (with potential for extension)

We work in partnership with residents, local authorities, schools, other charities and local organisations to develop projects which bring about regeneration and improve the quality of life. With a turnover of £3.5 million and 70 staff, we are in a strong position to build on our achievements so far. 

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to deliver an innovative range of youth-focused services within, Bedfordshire and surrounding areas that help young people to develop as individuals and strengthen their local community.  The posts include leading evening delivery sessions 2/3 nights a week as well as daytime youth work, working as part of a growing team and expanding programme of youth delivery.

Applicants must have:

  • A nationally or locally recognised JNC youth work qualification or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year (part time role) 2 years’ (full time role) experience working with challenging and/or at risk young people
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • An ability to manage time effectively, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • An ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
