Intervention Worker(s) – Birmingham and Solihull
Full time - Predominately Monday to Friday, weekend hours may be required.
Fixed term contract from September 2017 until July 2018.
Through the ESF’s Birmingham and Solihull Youth Promise Plus programme, Core Assets Children’s Services are excited to announce that we will be delivering specialist support to NEET young people (including care leavers) aged 15 – 29 into sustainable employment, education or traineeships across Birmingham and Solihull.
We now have opportunities available for enthusiastic and dedicated Intervention Workers to join our team on this exciting new contract.
About the Role:
Adopting a ‘Work First’ approach, you will effectively engage with young people to encourage and support and them into sustainable employment or education and training.
You will achieve this through the provision of holistic and tailored support to young people primarily on a one to one basis, helping them to understand and address barriers to work and setting short and long-term goals. You will also be working in partnership with local stakeholders and undertaking local outreach and engagement activities in and around the Solihull area.
This is an important and varied role which will require you to use all of your proven skills and experience to provide a robust and dedicated support to young people. No two days will be the same!
You will possess a ‘can-do’ attitude and a passion to positively impact young lives. Working in accordance with the Core Assets’ set of values, you will also be a motivated, and motivational, individual who can demonstrate a robust knowledge of employment, social and economic issues that young people face.
You will have some experience of working within employability and employer job support, with a sound understanding of partner agencies that support young people.
Your ability to mentor on a one to one basis will be fundamental to this role.
Intervention Workers will need to demonstrate the capacity to operate at a level commensurate with specific Coach /Mentor NVQ level 3 accreditation and /or Information, Advice and Guidance NVQ level 4 accreditation.
The successful candidate would be required to work in and around the Birmingham area.
