Hounslow Action for Youth Association (HAY) is a voluntary sector based charity. HAY works in the most disadvantaged areas of the London Borough of Hounslow.

HAY currently have opportunities for Youth Work staff to support its successful Youth Bonds Project.

The Youth Bonds Project aims to reduce social exclusion amongst young people aged 8 – 12 years old, who are assessed as being at risk of offending. The main objective of the project is to engage children and in a range of positive and constructive activities that will divert them from crime and anti-social behaviour.

We are looking for enthusiastic team players who have a genuine regard for young people.

We currently have the following positions available:

  • Youth Worker – 28 hours per week, term time. JNC Scale 5-8 - £9.90 – £10.86. Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 2pm- 7:30pm. Driving a Minibus will be a compulsory part of this role. Applicants will need to have a full driving licence with a D1 or be able to complete the MIDAS driving test.
  • Sessional Youth Worker – 15 hours per week, term time. JNC Scale1-4 - £8.63 – £9.58. Hours of work will be Monday to Friday 4pm- 7pm

These vacancies are fixed term appointments until 30 June 2020. Extensions will be dependent on funding.

Extra hours can be available depending on funding. Applicants must be available in July and August for compulsory training.    

The post will entail working as part of a team of staff. The successful applicants should be able to deliver youth work interventions for young people in line with National Youth Agency standards, engage young people in a process of social and personal development, manage groups of young people and be responsible for their care whilst participating in activities. They must have experience of youth or community work in a crime diversion / social exclusion setting.
