INTERVENTION WORKERS – Wolverhampton
3X Intervention Workers
Full time, 12 Month fixed term post
Region: Wolverhampton and surrounding areas
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
Full time hours available for Intervention Worker positions predominately working Monday to Friday, but some evening and weekend hours may be required on occasions to support the needs of the young people.
Introduction and Purpose:
Black Country Impact in Wolverhampton – To provide a support programme for young people in contact with the Youth Offending Team (YOT)
This role will deliver provision of a “Support Programme for 16-18 year olds in contact with the Youth Offending Team” (YOT) as part of the Youth Employment Initiative Project titled “Black Country Impact” which is part funded by European Social Fund (ESF) and Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) in the City of Wolverhampton only.
Impact in the Black Country aims to support young adults not in employment, education or training (NEET) move closer and into employment. The City of Wolverhampton Council is one of the five delivery partners for the Impact in the Black Country project.
About the Role:
To support young people accessing appropriate education training employment by providing mentoring, transport, assisting with daily routine, accompanying them to the training environment, debriefing their experiences and encouraging sustainability. Also to provide mentoring and training relating to the achievement of basic skills that will enable work readiness. To assist young people apply and access appropriate education training and employment. To identify young people who are risk of disengaging from education and training and addressing their sustainability.
This is an important and varied role which will require you to use all of your proven skills and experience to provide a robust and dedicated support to young people, both in a small group work format and 1:1 mentoring role.
You will possess a ‘can-do’ attitude and a passion to positively impact young lives. Working in accordance with the Core Assets’ set of values, you will also be a motivated, and motivational, individual who can demonstrate a robust knowledge of employment, social and economic issues that young people face, especially those connected with Youth Offending services. You will have experience of working within targeted services such as Youth Offending, education and training support and employability and employer job support, with a sound understanding of partner agencies that support young people.
Your ability to support as part of both a small group format and mentor on a one to one basis will be fundamental to this role.
Intervention Workers will need to demonstrate the capacity to operate at a level commensurate with specific Coach /Mentor NVQ level 3 accreditation and /or Information, Advice and Guidance NVQ level 4 accreditation.
