Senior Paediatric and Liaison Nurse

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced, innovative paediatric nurse at Band 7 Sister / Charge Nurse or Band 6 working towards Band 7 in the Moorfields Eye Unit at St Georges Hospital. In this post you will work closely with key members of the team at Moorfields and St George’s Hospital to develop this dual role and will work alongside the newly appointed outpatient play leader.
The post holder will be central in the development and co-ordination of the children’s ophthalmic service and will strengthen safeguarding liaison in the unit, supported by local senior nurse management and also the paediatric team at City Road.
Paediatric nursing experience is essential for this post. The post holder will be able to demonstrate organizational and leadership skills and also the ability to communicate with the multidisciplinary teams across Moorfields and St Georges Hospital.
An aptitude for safeguarding is essential as the role will entail strengthening safeguarding liaison to improve outcomes for children and young people. The post holder will be supported by the Moorfields Safeguarding Children and Young People Lead Nurse to develop the required skills.
The post holder will act as a paediatric resource, role model, mentor and educator to staff and students, fostering a positive child centered environment. The post holder will be required to be flexible, enthusiastic and committed to promoting the highest level of paediatric nursing care in line with the Quality Agenda of the NHS and the “Moorfields Way”.
Ophthalmic nursing experience is desirable but not essential as the post holder will be offered the opportunity to develop their paediatric ophthalmic skills in this area of practice.
