We are looking for sessional contact workers to join the Askham Contact Service

Are you interested in working with children who are currently Looked After by the Local Authority? We are recruiting contact workers to supervise contact between children who are in the care of the Local Authority and their birth parents. This work is being offered on a sessional basis.

The Contact service has achieved enhanced accreditation from the National Association of Child Contact Centres and works to the national standards for contact. All of the workers are skilled and trained to carry out contact work and are fully supported by an experienced management team.

The contact service works with Looked After Children who are in foster care or living away from their birth family. The centre provides a safe and secure environment for children to have contact with their families while plans are being made for the child's future.

You will be required to work directly with children and their families and to complete a written account of the contact after each session. You will be provided with training to carry out this role and will have access to good line management support. Successful candidates will have excellent oral and written communication skills. You will need to be proficient in IT systems such as Microsoft Office and have the ability to use our client data base system.

Applications would be welcomed from those who have relevant qualifications and experience of working in a social care, education or a health setting with children, and experience of working with vulnerable children and their families.

This post is subject to an enhanced CRB check.

The Contact Service is open from Monday - Saturday between 9-6 . We are looking for staff who can work flexibly around those hours.

If you would like to know more about the work of the contact service , please contact the team manager, Sue Culligan on 0208 749 6936.
