Here at Cumbria County Council we are determined to be amongst the best providers of children’s social care services in the country. To overcome the challenges we face we all need to work together and focus on providing best practice social care to our most vulnerable young people. We have come a long way in a short time since our Ofsted inspection in April 2012; our improvement plan is well established and we are making good progress. We are also excited to be a Munro ‘Journey Authority’ and embrace new ways of working, keeping our services users at the heart of all that we do.
Of course, having the right staff in place is crucial to our continued development and we are currently recruiting to two ‘third tier’ posts in the children’s services directorate, reporting to the Assistant Director of Children and Families. Our Senior Manager, Districts, will oversee the delivery of Child and Family Support Services and the Child Protection Service in our 3 districts. Our Senior Manager for Looked After Children will lead our fieldwork services for looked after children and care leavers and our provider services (fostering and adoption and residential care).
We are therefore looking for qualified social workers with several years of management experience and an excellent understanding of what good practice looks like. You will be resilient and enthusiastic, with the ability to work collaborative with staff and partners and above all a determination to improve the life chances of our communities.
Being part of Cumbria’s improvement journey could also be a significant boost to your career trajectory – so for more information please view www.leadersincumbria.com
