You will become a key team player ensuring that the Prison meets - as effectively and efficiently as possible- the identified safe guarding and public protection needs of children, families and prisoners. You will provide us with an assessment of need, care planning and – if appropriate – child protection issues in line with Safeguarding and Public Protection prison policy, legislation and our desire to prevent the separation of children from their families wherever practicable.
You’ll be responsible for the management of children and families coming into contact with the prison, in particular the Mother and Baby Unit and visits. You’ll work collaboratively with internal colleagues and external agencies promoting high quality assessment and child care services, managing and monitoring public protection and reporting non compliances.
You will therefore have substantial relevant experience in child protection issues gained in a Probation, Social Work, Legal or relevant role backed up by an up to date knowledge of current legislation and best practice and a working knowledge of Ofsted.
You will be a strategic thinker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills able to work effectively as part of a team and equally successfully on your own initiative.
