Further information

Barnardo’s South West is seeking two Team Leaders to manage the operational aspects of our eight Children’s Centres in Gloucestershire.

Our Children’s Centres offer services to families with children from pre-birth through to reception year at school and seek to support the most vulnerable. We provide advice and support to families within our reach areas including universal and targeted services, one-to-one support, signposting and nursery provision in some areas. The teams work collaboratively with their partners within the community to ensure the most effective services are delivered to children and families.

We’ll look to the Team Leaders to assist in the delivery of an effective service, directly managing a diverse team of multi-skilled staff and leading the development and co-ordination of the team. You’ll work closely together to ensure that effective management and support is provided to our Barnardo’s Children’s Centres across Gloucestershire.

You will have a professional qualification in Social Work, Education, Health or Youth and Community and have extensive experience of managing and supervising staff. You should be able to demonstrate your ability to effectively support staff in their coordination, planning and assessment work as well as supervising and motivating your teams on a daily basis. You’ll also have a proven track record of effecting positive outcomes for children and families and understand the need to evidence the impact of those changes.

With experience of direct work with parents and young children, including child protection work and interagency work between voluntary and statutory agencies, you’ll have the ability to form effective partnerships with parents/carers and children. You’ll be able to demonstrate knowledge of the developmental stages and needs of young children along with sound knowledge of child care legislation, policies and practice as well as the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

You’ll be required to work outside of core hours at times and to travel between the Children’s Centres and across the county of Gloucestershire on a regular basis.
